In October 2018, the Ministry of Social Affairs (MoSA) launched a nation-wide awareness campaign targeting low income families with a developmental aim to strengthen skills, develop awareness and utilize local resources.

The topics ranged from Addiction, Reproductive health, Family Education, Psychosocial support, Nutrition and Community Development.

The Family Education component is mainly related to the financial literacy namely the financial management of the household and income generating activities.

In the line of creating awareness about the LMFA, advocating for the industry and supporting our members with their outreach, we partnered with the Ministry to deliver the financial component of the training.

The interactive trainings were held at 104 centers of the ministry spread all over the country. The MoSA was responsible for the outreach and providing the equipped locations.

The sessions took place, in the 104 locations, on two Saturdays, October 6 and 13 and we reached around 5000 beneficiaries, 80% of which are women.

The success of this campaign made it a stepping stone to get into the good favors of BDL and develop a partnership, as well as it created an ongoing cooperation with the Ministry of Social Affairs and forged the skills development of 115 trainers from the LMFA’s members to be invested to participate in future projects and finally to be able to develop a primary financial knowledge assessment study.
